Why Do People Get Married?

What are the reasons why people get married? Is it because of social conditioning that society instilling to us? Or is it because of love? How about other people’s opinion that it is all about for the sake of security? And they said it is all about legal protection and benefits of the law.

There are people who are in favor of marriage who is the majority I think and there are those people that are against the marriage and don’t see a point in doing so. They all have a valid argument on this issue and let’s take a look at their points in this subject matter.

Let’s take a look at first on the side that opposes the marriage because they think that will not give you some kind of freedom in a way.

POINT # 1

You have to have sex with the same man/woman for the rest of your life; He/she gets half of your money and all of your stuff.

Well, that’s true if you are married you should only have sex with one person which is your husband/wife.  But the thing with that, it is not being followed especially if you are a guy. But today it is not only the guy who is doing that girls are starting to catch up. On the right sense what they are saying is, why settle for one if you can have more.

On the money thing, if you are married you have to share all your money and all your stuff to your partner which for some is not a good way for showing love. For them, why share all you have when you can have a separate money and separate stuff and still love each other because sometimes money is the one that makes the relationship in limbo.

POINT #2

You will get married because you want security

Well you have to get married because of the security features it offers, because you are afraid to deal with life with no someone that can lift you up when you are down. You will get married to keep away from the slump life you are in. They said you want to get married because you are a coward to face life that’s why security of marriage is what you are dwelling.

POINT # 3

Marriages are for social conditioned people that live their life for the approval of society

People are getting married because that is what society’s belief goes and the cultural aspect of it. Because if you will get married you will feel good about yourself and society will praise you for that because that is the norm they set.

POINT # 4

You will get married because of legal benefit and protection

There are hundreds of legal benefits you can receive by actually getting married. Insurance benefits, death benefits, house buying. Without those rights, they’re deprived of any official legal or societal recognition of their relationship. Because of this benefits and protection, people are getting married.

Well they have a point if you think about it, but how about those pro marriages? Let’s take a look at their point of view why marriage is still the best option.

POINT # 1

You should be married because that is the holy book tells you to do and that is the right way to put the right values in the right place.

Because if you will not get married and you couple is living together, you are doing a sin. God and society will punish and condemn you. That’s why you have to do the right thing and because that is the right values common people shared.

POINT # 2

You are doing it because of love

They said, what better way to show your love to your partner than giving the marriage license. And how better to tell your partner that you love him/her by getting married in front of  many people. It’s just like a sign or final stamp to the love both of you had for each other.

POINT # 3

Because it’s a sign that you are not afraid of commitment

You are not afraid to love him/her for the rest of your life because you are committed on the love you had. You will love that person through thick and thin for poorer or richer till death do us part. It’s also a sign of respect and maturity for both of you.

POINT # 4

You will get married because of your love of family and your children or future children

Yes you have to do that because you believe in the structure of family. You want also your children to be legitimate. Because you believe, this is for all the process that family should undergo for their family’s welfare and for their children’s well being.

They have also the valid point in doing the marriage thing because of what they believe could save the whole union of two people.

But I believe that it is all about choice

You are responsible in what you believe that could make your lives better and all you want to do is all about your choices in life. You are the only one that can say that your action is right and beneficial to you and your partner and to all the people concern.
