Pursuit of Success

What is success for you? Have you taken the time to reflect and develop a certain definition that you can truly call your own? Whether we are aware of it or not, our definition of success becomes our guiding path. This guiding path becomes the guiding force in our life that motivates and propels us into action. It sometimes causes us to work long exhausting hours, putting up with a job that has long lost its shine and meaning, just to settle for the security of health insurance and guaranteed paycheck.

Many of us failed to realize that in reality our deepest driving force for success is no more than a craving for security and a burning desire to collect more money.

In other words, many of us are motivated to make more money and have a lot of stuff. There’s nothing wrong with it, if money and lot of stuff is your ticket to happiness and contentment. More money and more material things can be fun. But when we thoughtlessly compete in the direction of success like a devil monster, we will be unhappily missing the mark.

Whether we are willing to admit it or not, many of us believe that life is going to bring us fulfillment when we attain this kind of level of success.

Here’s the deal, while most of us understand the realistic definition of success, we don’t really live to it accordingly. Our actions aren’t in alignment with our values. Actions speak louder than words. Our actions can make us a better person with good intention or can break us apart and destroy the core values that we had.

How many times you’ve stop for a while and ponder the importance of life, and if you really enjoyed your life, the life that you can enjoy being with your families, friends, and kids, The great feeling being with them in vacation, life’s adventure or simple get together. But you forgot these things, because you’re busy with work and have a lot of stuff occupying your mind. If this is what success has been for you, then you have to take time and rethink what is really success for you.

Get very clear about what success means to you. Take some time to reflect on this. If you were to look back in a life you consider to be well lived, where you can tell your families, friends, and relatives that you lived your life to the fullest, It should be in a manner where your heart and mind coincide with each other, where you can say, I lived it intelligently with the heart that cares.

Think and ponder what the definition of success really for you is. Maybe you can say that success includes, having quality time for the important relationships in your life, making choices that comes from a place of integrity instead of fear, thinking of others and being there with others instead of just looking after yourself, or taking care of the important moments of your life.

Is it easy to live life this way? No. Is it worth it? Yes.

Now, begin to remodel your idea of success. What really is success for you?
